PRIVATE COLLEGES & OUT OF STATE PUBLIC COLLEGES
The Common Application allows students to complete one application and have access to almost 900 colleges. All transcripts, counselor reports, mid-year reports, and letters of recommendation are handled electronically by San Andreas with the Common Application. The Coalition Application is similar to the Common Application and is made up of more than 150 public and private colleges and universities across the U.S. Just like the Common Application, students fill out one set of material and all schools have access to your file.
There are over seventy private colleges and universities in California, each having their own unique character and strengths. Over 200,000 students attend these schools. Approximately 1/4 of California’s undergraduate degrees are earned by private school students, 1/2 of California’s master’s and Ph.D. degrees, and 3/4 of California’s professional degrees. AICCU provides more information about California’s independent colleges and universities. You can find additional information about both private and public colleges at the California Colleges Website
